Karakoram highway road connect Islamabad/Rawalpindi with China’s Xinjiang province. This road is built by Pakistan Army Engineers along with the help of Chinese Technicians and Experts. It is also known as “Eighth wonder of the world.”
The major cities that comes into the way include Hasanabdal, Abbottabad, Thakot, Chilas, Gilgit, Aliabad, Sust, Khunjerab Pass, and Kashgar. Work on Karakoram Highway was started in 1966 and it was completed in 1979. It was open for public in 1986. Karakoram Highway is also symbol of Pak-China friendship.

Attraction for Tourists:
Karakoram Highway is ranked as third best tourist point in Pakistan by “the Guardian.” Cyclists and mountaineers can easily access many lakes, mountains and glaciers through this road. The mountains that can be seen while traveling on Karakoram Highway include:
